Isn't it funny how much a dollar means as your collection progresses? When I started with G1s I couldn't fathom spending $10, it wasn't long until I had to tell myself I couldn't spend over $20 on a single pony and I'm starting to approach the $30 mark now. I'll admit though, there have been several ponies where I've been so deadset on having them that money has not been an option. Then of course it auction ends at $60 less than my absolute max!

Ha! I know what you mean, red. To start with, I was like 'oh, I can't spend more than $3 or $4 on a pony where now I'm like 'well, I guess $30 isn't too much for that pony'.

I am no different, I just had the option to collect really quick and throw any cash at it that I hadn't tied up.
I started with the idea that ten bucks here or there was fine but in no time I saw ponies that were just too hard to resist. I remember thinking that $100 on a pony was completely NUTS! Then I started collecting MIB and at the peak of the price rise last year. So now that I have so many of them, the cost has been astounding.
On the good side, they are from my perspective a total investment. Not the smartest or easiest form of investment in terms of liquidity, but they are a resource that can be sold for more than we paid for them if we buy them smartly.

She's lovely Kisscurl - I wish I had the control not to be tempted but so many of the Nirvanas are just too pretty to resist. My favourites at the moment are the Italians and German Princess Variants so since I just off-loaded a major chunk of my G3 collection I treated myself to some new additions to the Italian herd ;D And an individual shot of Heart Throb I've wanted her for ages and she's so pretty. By far my fav Italian so far!

I just LOVE that Italian Heartthrob, she is gorgeous. I have Italian Peachy, Bowtie, Applejack, Cherries Jubilee and Seashell. I love their hair, it is always so long and silky smooth (well, all of mine have gorgeous hair anyway).

I love their hair, it is always so long and silky smooth (well, all of mine have gorgeous hair anyway). Their hair is one of the things I love about the Italians - all mine have gorgeous hair too I was lucky enough to pick them all up from Australia too which is always a super bonus! Seashell is high on my Italian want list I actually won her, Peachy and Blossom for great prices on Ebay last year but the seller decided to A. not bother posting them and B. to not respond to my claim with Paypal. I was lucky enough to get my money refunded but it really peeved me off . . . I'm actually going to have another brag soon . . . I'm really on a bit of a buying ban ATM (most of the ponies I've gotten lately have come from funds from selling other ponies) but I saw this pony on Ebay and feel in love with her and just had to win her . . . she won't be here for a while though so stay tuned for some pix.

oh princess locket how can you tease us like that!!!!!!! you are doing what redsetgogirl did and its not on ROFL Nah I'm not going to tease you for that long - I figured a day was long enough LOL. As you can see in the pix she's had a pretty major hair cut but I've already organised a new tail for her . . . I'm just excited to be adding her to my collection!!!!!!! and she looks to be in lovely condition other wise. My Lavender Satin N Lace is actually complete so I'm thinking she can just donate all her accesories and the mane won't be noticeable under the veil Now I just have to wait for her to arrive . . .

I kind of like her mane cut, it's quite a nice little cropped hair-do. Her tail isn't that bad either, they suit her.

Yes it as me I went a bit over my limit too the exchange rate makes ponies from the US expensive really quickly ATM Some naughty, naughty person tried to snipe me at the last minute and pushed her price up a heap - one more bid and they would have gone over my limit. I figure she's worth it though I've only seen a handful for sale while I've been collecting and I haven't seen one come up for ages.
