Just wondering which ponies are studying either at uni, tafe, whatever? What course are you doing? How are you going? Are you enjoying it? Are you studying full/part time or external/distance?
I'm in my second last year of uni. I'm studying the Bachelor of Environmental Management at UQ.
It's pretty good, generally. I'm doing a combination of studying externally and part-time internally (so I don't have to take bubs too often). I really like the group of students who are doing the Bachelor with me (there are nine of us altogether), and the campus is great - nice and quiet with plenty of parking.

I am. I am at the ANU studying Zoology and Biological Anthropology. I had hoped to finish it this semester but I have one more zoology unit to do, and my baby is due mid semester. The only unit I can do means that I would have a 5 hour straight block of classes, which is so unpractical with a newborn. I had hoped to do a special topics course but I can't find a supervisor Oh well. I do like studying though. And the courses are interesting.

I know how you feel, xeevee, Matt was due at the end of August last year - mid-semester - so I couldn't do the industrial placement part of my program, or the Qld trip part of my program. I have to do both next year instead. Because I have spaced my courses a bit to fit this in, I find I am enjoying them more (reduced workload) and getting better marks, too!
Looking back, I reckon I could have coped with bringing a newborn into class, but at the time I wasn't sure how it would be (because he was my first). It's harder to take him in now (which I do for three hours on Wednesdays) because I have to continuously watch him and make sure he doesn't a) disappear, b) eat things and c) disrupt everyone in the other classes/groups.
Your course sounds really interesting! What sort of job are you hoping for when you finish?

there is no way I would take Remy into class with me. He would be a nightmare Luckily Paul (my husband) is a phd student, so if I'm in class and we have no other options he can watch him. We also have Remy at preschool 2 days a week now. Though he did used to spend a lot of time at Uni. We're also lucky in that Paul's mum is retired and lives locally, so she's awesome for day time babysitting. When the new baby arrives, she'll probably be at uni a fair bit, but I figure a feed before class should see her thought he time I'm in class, and Paul can just take her to his office. I really love my course, but I have no idea what I want to do with it now. Originally I would have said field research. Either as an academic or in the defense environmental analyst type of thing where you do wildlife surveys to see if they are allowed to use their own land. But now I am more of a mum than anything. I really like being at home for Remy, so I'll probably end up doing something boring like working part time for the public service in environment or something. I guess if I could I would like to work for the IUCN or a charity like WWF.

I'm doing Forensic Science at UWS. Hopefully only one more semester to go. Doing it all full time. Both your courses sound really interesting. Would have done similar units myself but not the biggest fan of biology units. I hope doing the semester with the kid goes well as well as the pregnancy.

I am not yet, but I am looking into my options as we were told last week our centre will be closed within 12 months, so I will need something to stimulate my brain while I bum around with no job! I have been there over eight years so I should be able to go without work income for some time with that, especially with the hubby now back working. I am not sure what I want to study yet, I guess I'll have to figure out what I want to do first. My soon to be ex-work will pay out $10k towards recognised study after retremchment, so I may as well pump more money out of them while I still can!

I finished studying in 2007. I got my BA in 2006 then my Bachelor of Communication Honours in 2007. I had wanted to go on to do masters but had health issues and the ideal place for me to study would have been in Queensland which just wasn't an option at the time.
I've thought about going back to study, even if it were just post-grad rather than masters but I think back to all of those long nights trying to get assignments done and find another 500 words for an essay (we has some really far out questions to answer like 'does art know?') and I quickly change my mind.
My best friend who did the same BA as me is doing online uni study for a post-grad teaching degree. She has a two-year old son and thought that it would keep her brain from turning into mush. The hardest part is when she has to do work placement as she's at school all day, has to take care of her son that evening and write up the following days lesson plans. It's even harder now that she has moved to Victoria (was in NSW) as she has to travel back there in a month's time to do the second half of her placement.

I'm doing Archaeology and Athropology through JCU, though I currently live in Wagga Wagga after moving because of hubby's work.
All of you with kids and uni have my sympathy. Selene was 3 weeks old when I started 1st semester 2nd year and she came along to classes with me. Thankfully my lecturers were parents so they understood having kids and schooling.
