Hello! I'm Skimble (maybe some of you know me from the Arena) and I've been meaning to sign up over here for a while, and forgetting to. I know that's absolutely terrible, but I'm here now, and looking forward to getting to know some Aussie/Kiwi collectors better!
*gets up, dusts herself off, and grins over at pony_magick who pushed her over here*
As for the rest, I live in Geelong (south of Melbourne), I've been collecting ponies since I was 7 because I never actually stopped, and I've got an ever-growing collection of about 230 ponies and absolutely NO self control! I'm also into Sylvanian Families and heavy metal, and I'd love to get together with some fellow pony-lovers one day, although I don't know that I'll be able to get to the fair this year. Sigh!
I'm looking forward to having fun with some collectors a little closer to home. Yay! *hugs everyone*

Also it's a great place to discuss pony related things like swaps, because you won't give anything away here if you partner doesn't belong to the board!

Well it's about time Skimble!
I'll be posting some pics of my Sylvanian collection as soon as I can. It seems my collection suddenly grew overnight to include the windmill. If you ever wondered if real mice like Sylvanians, I can answer that question. Whilst in the old owner's care, mice pooed all over the dome on the top of the windmill and despite days of soaking, I can't get it off. Gross! It also came with a toilet with some old yellow stuff sitting in it. Like a true professional, I cleaned it out with a cottonbud and dettol liquid soap. I must have look like a crazed loon!

Aw, thank you all for the welcome! *hugs*
Redd, massive congrats on the windmill! That's about the last playset I really want and can't live without (despite having no space for it!) so I'm super excited for you! I'd love to see pics of it after you've got it all cleaned up ... I'm crossing my fingers for you that it comes up nice!
Oh, I know exactly just how much mice like Sylvanians! Last year I was at the market and spotted Bramble the Pony, and tore over to him excitedly and bought him. The seller asked me if I collected, and when I said yes, said she had a box full of SF stuff in the garage and was I interested? Her husband came with a box and a garbage bag full - the hospital, the florist, the caravan, the school, the 80s bakery, the Woodland Lodge, about 30 figures, stacks of furniture - most of the buildings were nearly complete with accessories. She only wanted $30 for the lot. I grinned all the way home and plotted my cleaning attack...
The drawback? They'd been in the garage for about fifteen years. Fifteen years of dust, dirt, sand (I think the caravan had been played with in the sand pit) and mouse poo all over everything. I spent all the rest of that day going through two bottles of disinfectant, ajax, a toothbrush and several cleaning cloths, scrubbing like the world was going to end. Scrubbing mouse poo off the clothes, blankets and the felt pads of the playpen ... it was absolutely disgusting. I swear, I'm NEVER going to forget the smell of wet mouse poo! But it was SO totally worth it ... I got nearly half the buildings I own that day!
One day I'm going to take pics of my collection, I'm just waiting for a halfway sunny day with decent light...
*hugs all the welcomers again*

This reminds me that I used to have a few Sylvanians growing up and possibly some of the accessories. Sadly I know that the Sock monster or some other type of mysterious monster who likes to steal things has gotten to them. I know for sure because recently I excavated all my childhood toys and didn't find them, or I would have totally given them to people who would appreciate them!

Wow! $30, and such awesome sets, a bargain if ever there was one. The lady who sold the windmill told me that they actually belong to a friend's daughter who was really into Sylvanians and had a ton of stuff she planned on selling as well but couldn't find. She said she'd keep my phone number just in case they ever showed up. I'm hoping they do because I'm certain the rest of the hedgehog family is with it and Maxwell is a little lonely on his own.

hey skimble, like redd said, about time. I found some sylvanian family accessories while I was packing for moving that I totally forgot I even had. Nothing hugely speciall, but there is a rolling pin and bread board, and a fry pan. Funny the things you come across.

Yeah, I know - past time! *facepalms* But I'm here now! Late to the party, but here! Redd - I'm so crossing my fingers for you that she finds more! Oh, the hedgehogs are just so cute! xeevee - you know they're trying to take over, don't you? Slowly but surely, sneaking their way into our homes... ;D I've been pretty lucky, I can't think of any toys I had that I lost. The evil sock monster's banned from our house! Skimble
